Consider this.....
Its illegal/fraudulant now i believe if you are the named owner (main driver) of a car and are not insured on it, ie just a named driver on someone elses policy, id read the small print on the insurance policy, it should say in there somewhere, and the fact that you cannot even afford the insurance brings into consideration the fact that if you have an accident (and i do know for one that my insurance co requires me to have the car serviced at regular intervals, they actually asked me that!) they are in their right to invalidate your insurance![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Now consider the cost of maintenance..... 4-500 for a big service, 300 for a medium service and 100 for a minor service, 2 services per year (6 month/7.5k miles) and it looks like you cannot afford this car.....
So if you cannot afford to insure it, you wont be able to maintain it, which basically means you will be left with one big debt when things go wrong, and trust me, they will![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

named driver = illegal & not insured, bit harsh isnt it?!.......if thats the case whats the point of forking out say extra £500 just to be a named driver if that still makes you uninsured. might as well save that £500 for other stuff. ok being a named driver doesnt make you the main driver/owner. but thats not what i am as my family also uses the FTO i sometimes drive. it dont state on any part of the insurance that a named driver only has a time limit of using the car & certainly dont say you cant drive it........

You cannot be a named driver if you are the main user of the car, its meant to be more like families with the use of 2 cars where they can move/drive the other car but not on a regular basis. The insurance co's closed this loophole to stop young drivers getting into high powered cars on someone elses insurance.
Harsh?
not really (as thats what an insurance policy is for
