Question Are you under 25 and insured on an Impreza?

Hi there,

Are you under 25 and insured on an Impreza? If the answer is yes, I could do with info on your age, who you managed to insure with and at what cost, if you wouldn't mind... I'm desperately after this 2.0 GL saloon auto, but I'm 24...

Yesterday my dad called up Adrian Flux, and was told that me as a named driver would have to be 25! (I'm 24 with a v6 firebird insured through them!!)

Also he was told that the 2.0 GL AWD automatic he was trying to insure was a hatch - "no it is a 4 door saloon not a wagon" oh and that we must be mistaken about AWD, they don't know what awd is.... However if we meant 4x4 then well, that was on their system...

I hate insurers...

Age 24
MY02 WRX
Insured with Tesco at £880 a year fully comp with protected no-claims and 5 years NCB
Siemans Tracker fitted ( must have it to get insured )

Tesco has got to be the best insurance company if not the only insurance company that offers good rates for under 25's

Get a quote on the Tesco website and also phone them up as 9 times out of 10, the two quotes will be different, then just take out the one which is cheapest.

Before i got my car, i spent half a day calling different insurance companies........32 to be precise!! Tesco was by far the cheapest, most of the others would insure me, but i would be looking at paying £1500 +, or they would state i had to be age 25 or over.

Try Norwich Union Direct and Privilege. I'm 20 and have just got my 1.6GL insured with NU for £785 (would have been £740 without mods) with 1 year NCB, garaged, CAT1, Advanced Motorists licence, but a £1k excess. My mum has just got her 2.0GL insured for ~£270 with Priv, it would have been £580 with me as a named driver.

If it's actually going to be your car, get it insured in your name as soon as you can to build up some NCB. Last year was £1750 with Liv Vic for me, but down to less than half of that now with a year's NCB. If I'd had my time over I'd buy a Fiat Panda on my 17th birthday, insure it 3rd party but never drive it - just to get some NCB.

HTH

thanks

but my NCB is on my Pontiac, the car will basically be mine but i will have my father be the main policy holder, he will sell his old merc, then he will pay for road tax, mot etc on the impreza... that is probably the only way i will see the new addition to our family on the driveway, my daily driver is a contract hire car so 3 cars of mine on the drive any other way around would be taking the **** lol...

Christ! You lads are going to the wrong companies! I had a '99 Impreza Turbo 2000 saloon, when I had just turned 22 and it cost me £900 fully comp (£200 excess) with Admiral. I had 3 years no claims then. It lowered the cost by having my Dad as a named driver.

I have just got a quote for my WRX STi Type-R V5 (Jap import) and its £830 Fully Comp (£200 excess) with Admiral (I'm now 25 with 5 Years no claims), and thats even without it having an alarm or tracker!
