depending on how much cash you have, you will have nightmares getting insurance. Search this forum, you will see all sorts of issues for people trying to get insured under 25.

If you have another 3 - 4k spare to spend on insurance, I dare say you will find someone to insure you.

endsleigh i think, i'm with elephant.

from what i've been told 3 points aint that bad to your insurance, 6 or above is a major problem. My advice, look at ever insurnace company you can, the more quotes the better. Then get your best and ask others to beat it, then try to beat that quote etc untill they say "sorry we cant beat that quote" or "if you've got a quote like that take it" cos that usually means that s the lowest they can go.

Its a mine field out there, make sure there isn't any stupid conditions to the policies and make sure you get legal cover. and also the policies will usually come with extra excess cos of your age (which they may not tell you about untill you get the paperwork through) elephant have a £250 excess for 22-25 years old on top of the standard excess so be very carefull.

also most places will want a tracker and cat 1 which is a must anyway eeven if they don't say its a requirement of the policy.

Cool

Christ! You lads are going to the wrong companies! I had a '99 Impreza Turbo 2000 saloon, when I had just turned 22 and it cost me £900 fully comp (£200 excess) with Admiral. I had 3 years no claims then. It lowered the cost by having my Dad as a named driver.

I have just got a quote for my WRX STi Type-R V5 (Jap import) and its £830 Fully Comp (£200 excess) with Admiral (I'm now 25 with 5 Years no claims), and thats even without it having an alarm or tracker!

hmmm think i'll wait till i'm 25! just out of curiosity, i'm a named driver on my wifes insurance, if we go without any claims for a couple of years does that give me any bonuses or is it just her??!!

also does a recovery call-out count as a claim???

sorry to jump in on this thread

Where do you live .......The Moon or Mars.

You must live 'out in the sticks' to be getting insurance at that price.
My quotes are and extra £200-300 and thats with privilage

I bought MY97 turbo when i was 21, I had 1 years NC. the car is parked off road and i live in a not-so brilliant post code.

The only company to give me a realistic quote was Sabre. it cost me £1600 and i had to have a tracker + CAT 1 alarm (which was already on my car

the excess is £550.

wasn't brilliant but it was nearly the same as i was paying for a 1.8l ford Mundano!
now ive had the car for a while the price is coming down - maybe time for me to get a skyline gtr.................- i wish

Nice, good luck getting insurance for an affordable amount (by affordable I mean affordable for normal people). Costing me a grand to insure my non-turbo at 20 with 1yrsNCB, though it was less lastyear because insurance companies are all blood sucking ******.

If you havent made a claim, then your insurance should be less than last year, not MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CyprusScooby, I didn't claim, but because I swapped the scooby mid policy lastyear I assume they didn't charge me the full whack.

P.S my gf saw lots of Scoobies in Cyprus when she went on holiday this yr, including one with full rally decals/roof vent, took a picture, don't spose it was yours? I'll be going next year so will see for myself.

I'm 23 and looking to buy a my99 4 door at somepoint.

4 years ncd and Tescos want 750 with a tracker (which most of ones I've seen have so just need to pay subs).

If I say I'm 25 (but leave ncd at 4 years) and married it brings it down loads more though!
