Try tesco's for a quote. These days insurance companies are on the ball with regards to being on your Dads policy. They wouldn't even quote my Dad with anyone less than 30 on the policy. I got insured on a 98' sti 4 import when I was 21 for £2400! Got my renewal quote through last week and it has come down to £1600!
A uk model is def the way to go if under 25, but it WILL be expensive for the 1st year of ownership. Go on, you know you want to!

Well try and get a quote with your Dad as the main user. If no joy there, I recommend you buy a cheap and cheerful runabout for a year and get some no claims. If you were an insurance company, would 'you' insure 'you'??

Bite the bullet now, or wait a year.
It gets better, I've been quoted 780 on a uk turbo at 23 :/
