Whilst getting insurance on my recently bought WRX Wagon (MY00-very early bugeye) I kept getting the car details up as a turbo 2000 not a newage WRX. V5 docs have come through and say it is a turbo 2000.
I changed details on insurance to make sure they knew it was a WRX (better safe than sorry) and premium went up by £135.
Do i need to get DVLA to change details or do i move insurance companies and save £135 (probably not this one as I will regret it later no doubt).???
Why has this happened in the first place anybody know?
cheers

If it's a WRX, tell your insurance company it's a WRX - and yes, it'll probably cost more. The bugeye WRX is grp 18, a classic Turbo 2000 is grp 17. If your insurance company thinks they're covering the earlier car, it'll take an assessor about 2 seconds to decide not to pay out if you have a crash otherwise.
DVLA are awful when it comes to accurately recording details on the V5, but usually correct details without too much fuss if you send the form back. It might save some grief in the future (especially when you come to sell - I wouldn't buy a car with something that fundamentally wrong on the V5).

My sti5 was also registered as a 1.6gl, insured as an STI5, and then had the logbook changed. It shows how often some insurance compnies update their records though, when looking for my renewal quote some sites still picked it up as a gl, even though it was changed last january.
