Companies that wouldn't quote an import
#4
I think the reason they said they won't quote is because I had 2 claims in Oct '98.
He asked what my best was and he probably said he couldn't get anywhere near.
Re NFU. I rang them up and to be honest the person I spoke to didn't seem like the sharpest tool in the box! A new branch of NFU appear just down the road from me and they were equally clueless but said they used Norwich Union who I'd already tried.

Quote is on a STI MY97 and I'm 27.
pwebb - Marks site is OK and Paul Gander has one with insurance details too but how often do they update them? I sent Paul some info some months back which hasn't found its way onto his site. Thats why I thought having something on the BBS would be better.
I have phoned companies now who I phone 6 months ago and they no longer want to do the imports.

Pwebb is right. DONT take no for an answer.
Lots of posts say Admiral dont do mods. They eventually quoted me less with mods than my previous company wanted for standard car. Just keep asking WHY? and if you dont like the answer ask to speak to his/her manager.
3 reasons they say no ?
1. Not interested in cars so dont know what they are talking about
2. Cant be *rsed to look it up
3. Scared to ask manager in case he thinks they're a tw*t
If you dont shout at them but point out you know of people have the same car insured with them and that you want to give them your business they often change their tune.
Good luck, John

NFU: I currently have my STi5 insured with them, but I'm wondering what will happen when the policy comes up for renewal - not until September, thankfully - as I've heard that they are not accepting any more "Grey Import" business.
Has anyone successfully *renewed* their (import) insurance with them?
