Default Temporary insurance dilema

Me m8 has a car which is going back to the dealer on the 31st of this month.

Today he baught a new car which he has to pick up sometime next week. The new car is a pug 106 GTI and to insure it for him its around £900 from the 1st of next month with a years no claims bonus.

Problem is he doesnt have a no claims till the 31st of this month and to insure the 106 they want a extra couple of hundred quid to insure it from now and it has to be paid upfront unlike from the 31st when he has the no claims and can pay it monthly.

He will be running his old car until the dealer picks it up so just wants cover to get the new car home.

So is there a way he can get insurance for it just for 1 day so he can get it home. Or are there companies that will insure him for a month.

By the way hes 22.

Try

www.dayinsure.com

As you will see their prices start at £10 per day and the cover is with Norwich Union.I don't know of anyone who will arrange a months cover at a sensible price.
