Angry Blo*dy Tesco's!

Been with tesco's insurance now for 2 years.
Had no other choice of insurer when I purchased my 97 sti 4 back in december 2003, as I was only 21. The only catch was that I had to fit a tracker, which I did.
Received a letter from them this morning stating that due to 'policy changes', they will not be able to re-new my insurance for nxt year! Their policy now states that all import impreza owners have to be over 25. I thought this applied to new customers, not renewal's??
Seems a bit of a daft decission, especially when I have paid the best part of 3.5 grand over two years, without a claim! Plus £700 for the tracker!

And before anyone starts the 'Daddy's boy' routine, I paid for all this myself, without a loan might I add.

Just wondering where to go now. I can get insured with elephant, and waiting for emails back from Keith Micheals & Greenlight. Any suggestions??

We were required to have a tracker fitted when we insured with T-sco's but have since heard that they either own Tr-ckster or are involved someway.
We have since found that NIG are competitive for us although we are a generation above your age. (www.insuresupermarket.co)

Have you looked for any ideas on the forum under the insurance section?

As regards the "daddy's boy" routine if your dad is not helping you out moneywise do you think that he could help me instead?

Give A-plan a try 01635 874646. I got a cheaper deal with them than Tesco's or Elephant without a tracker.

Bit difficult I'm afraid Andy, the old man had a stoke 6 weeks ago.
I am currently training to become Driving Instructor, but have also now to run my Dad's Fork Lift Truck Company.
And then I get that letter from 'good old' Tesco's this morning!

Just heard back from Keith Micheals. Gary came back with a very reasonable price of £1225, including my current mods (alloys, mud-flaps, sti 5 spoiler, exhaust) and with no extra charge for ecu, brakes etc.

Id try A-Paln mate.

As for Tesco, they are owned by Direct Line who own Tracker. Now you know why they ask for Trackers to be fitted!! They may as well add £500 onto your premium!

I'll vouch for that too.

A-Plan quote on an individual basis. If you've owned the car for more than a year already (and haven't had any accidents) they can come through with an amazing price.

Another good option for younger people at the moment seems to be Adrian Flux. Although I've never found them that cheap in the past, I think they're being a bit more ruthless to get us Scooby owners on their books.

Think Greenlight would be your best bet, or perhaps Adrian Flux, but I'd stay well away from NIG, they're absolutely hopeless if you actually need to claim

I was insured with Prudential (don't laugh!) they insure anyone over 23 on imported cars. I got the Tesco's routine too. Got an insurance quote, bought the car two months later and then, 'due to change in policy we only insure over 25's on imports!'

Took me a week of phone calls to find insurance in the end, was 23 then, TT99 2001, 5 yrs NCB and £900 fully comp.

Good luck with the search!

Yes, I have tried norwich union. You have to be over 25 to insure an import. Plus, I would never go with nu because of all the horror stories i've heard!
