Off the top of my head I think it's a £500 excess on the policy, though don't quote me on that.

is that an average excess then? I was quoted with £450, thats the highest I have ever been quoted as an excess ever.

Excess depends very much on the insurer and how high you want to go ... I've had companies talk about £1,000+ excess as an option before. Between £500-£600 seemed to be the norm for most quotes I had this year. The majority of companies will allow a little play with the figure but obviously as you lower your excess the policy quote starts heading skyward

Could very well be £250, but i delt with lots of people who have checked their £250 Elephant excess, and have had a bit of a shock when the read the small print!!!

Most of my quotes seemed to want £400-500 excess - at the least the quotes in three figures did.

And I vote for Moley as well.
