Default How much extra with 6 points on the license?

Ok here's a question for your insurance guys that browse here And before anyone says anything this genuinely IS a question for a friend

I've already got a fantastic quote from Keith Michaels for when I pick my new Impreza up, however I'll be passing my Prelude 2.2 V-Tec 1993L import on to a friend. My insurance is pretty reasonable for it (£500ish fully comp and that's before I knew about any of the specialists), but he currently has 6 points on his license from a couple of years ago for two separate SP30 offences (in the same place too, fool!!).

He's stuck his details in to confused.com and the best he got for fully comp was about £750, but most of the insurer's wouldn't quote online because of the convictions. He's 26 with full NCB and lives in a reasonable area. I'm guessing without the convictions he'd be looking at a premium of £400-500 for fully comp, but anyone got any idea how much extra the 6 points will wack on top of this? Thanks for the help

Hi Spirit,

Most of our underwriters do not levy the premium for speeding offences unless they involve extreme speeds or hefty bans.

Without his full details it's difficult to give an indication, so probably the best bet would be to get your buddy to log onto our website www.greenlightinsurance.com or call 01277 263030 to see if we can help.

Kind regards

Tony

Cheers for the quick reply Tony, sounds like you use the right underwriters then as he'd had grief from others in the past for it!! No extreme speeds or bans involved so I'm sure he'll be relieved to hear that.

I'll get him to call round yourselves, A-Plan and Keith Micheals asap as he may be getting the car on Saturday, so ger ready to give him your best prices
