Named driver had a no fault claim on another car - tell my insurer now?
Wife had someone run into the side of her company car (no fault claim). She is a named driver on my policy. Do I tell my insurer now, at all, or at renewal?

Not true
John, all the major companies subscribe to the DfT insurance database (same one linked to PNC) so they will know. Had exactly the same scenario with my other half 18 months ago, insurers wrote and told me in strongly worded terms, after I had not declared it on the renewal. All they will have is a database Ref. No. I gave them the full details and it didn't affect my policy at all, hope this helps, regards JG

Hi John,
Your best bet is to disclose asap, Insurers do not load mid-term for claims or convictions so it will not impact upon your premium until renewal (if at all, bearing in mind the circumstances). By letting them know early, you come across in the best possible light and will give your Insurer the ability to rate upon the correct details, rather than calculate a rate and then re-run with the claim in the equation.
Some Insurers do levy the premium for non-fault incidents as their view is that this still often involves an outlay or at the very least admin in handling the claim..
For the record "GREENLIGHT DO NOT LOAD" for non-fault incidents under any of our 'specialist vehicle' schemes.
Kind regards
Tony

How can this incident, bearing in mind it was a no fault claim in a company car covered by company insurance, have any impact on a personal policy..?
Unless insurance companies are now loading on your precieved 'luckiness' or lack of, which thinking about it they probably do FFS..! Why else would they ask if you've had a claim regardless of fault..?!!

I told them and they sent out new documents. I clearly stated it was no fault. Try a little quote with Elephant and it bumps it up by £100 pa.
At renewal I will ask for another quote without her on the policy (she has only driven my car once and is scared of it), but usually with 6 points declared for her it still brings down the premium by adding a lady on

Dont worry John..
Cant believe Elephant bumped your future annual premium up for non-fault accidents
If Elephant cant help, we can
If you get a few minutes when your renewal is due, pop onto www.greenlightinsurance.com or call 01277 263030 - we'll be happy to help and you will NOT be loaded for a non-fault/recoverable claim.
Kind regards
