phone greenlight and ask?
each insurer has different guidelines!!!
I'm with elephant, they would work out how much its cost to insure the car for the time i've had it, knock that off my premium and refund the rest. Id lose any months towards a years NCB that i had built up.
Greenlight may be different

Unfortunately option A) is a no go, you cannot insure a vehicle twice. It would show up on the Motor Insurance Database (MID).
B) If you cannot find a replacement vehicle you will need to cancel the insurance, usually you have 14 days from the date of sale to do this*. If you cancel your policy keep in mind that insurers usually charge a certain percentage for a set amount of time i.e. 3 months cover would normally cost 50% (varies from insurer to insurer) of the insurer premium plus any commission or fee.
If you have not spoken to anyone here at Greenlight call Tuesday and ask for me (assuming I am not the "dozy plonker" you got last time )
*If you do not cancel the policy, if your old vehicle is involved in an incident where the driver does not stop, a search by the police will bring up your details as the current policyholder and a claim will be submitted to your insurer. Unfortunately it can take allot of time and effort to get this straightened out.

Being the Senior Partner at Greenlight, naturally im not overly enammoured by your comments.
If you can PM me the number that you would have called from i'll review ALL calls that youve made in an effort to see who's the "dozy plonker" - then post my findings on here.
