Guy at work was telling me about cash in Lieu as he has had his car backed in to. The damage only looks small, yet the insurance approved repairer said £4000!!!!
He mentioned something about cash in lieu so he could fix it himself?
Whats all this about as I've never heard it before?

Hi Nick
Cash-in-lieu of repair is an option utilised to allow an individual to be paid an agreed sum for the repair, which the individual then uses to pay a repairer of his choice (usually used when an approved repairer is not being utilised, or if specialist repair/non-standard parts with limited availability required).
Kind regards
Tony
