Can you insure a car if you are not the registered keeper? My son will be 17 next month he has the chance to get a car now but can not insure it because he has no licence, if the car is registered to him can i insure it then add him on to it when he is 17. The car is worth around 5000 so do not want to leave it on the drive uninsured incase it gets stolen.

Hi - I assume that your son is not purchasing the car with his own £5000.00 so effectively you or someone else is the owner of the car.On this basis use
ecarinsurance.co.uk - monthly pay as you go
to insure the car for a month in your name and then take out insurance in your son's name.As you probably know the keeper of the car is quite separate from the legal owner of the car.
