Non-Standard BackBox and Cover
My Impreza will be 7 years old during my next period of Insurance, the exhaust backbox is showing signs of age and may well need replacing during that Insurance Term.
I am currently with Frizzell (Liverpool and Victoria) who frown upon any hint that I may fit a non-Subaru rear silencer ..... I have told them that for the price of a Subaru part I can get a Stainless Steel rear silencer cheaper and thats what I would want to do. I am not interested in any claims of performance increases as I know simply a backbox alone will not deliver any enhancement. I do however care if I can get a lifetime warranty on a stainless box rather than a mild steel Subaru box.
My car is still standard ... and quotes start at £322 - about what my renewal will be from Frizzell.
If, however, I put into the quotation that I have a modified exhaust system it starts to get really stupid .... requests that I ring them even!!!!
I tried Greenlight as they are advertised on a banner here and they wanted £557 ..... which would be hysterical if it was a joke, but I think they are serious! Needless to say £557 is the most expensive quote I have had by some considerable margin.
So, who will insure me with a non-Subaru Stainless Steel BackBox? At a sensible price? Should I even declare it?
