Default mates car stolen insurance question.....

hi all my mates just had his sti stolen from chelmsford essex.he still had over 3 years hp/finance to pay on it.will the insurance pay the full amount oweing as no gap insurance taken out with it.....also his credit rating is extremely poor now so will the insurance pay out direct to him or to the finance/hp company as his obviously worried he will end up without a nice car at all???????many thanks

1st off - they'll pay what the car is worth. gap insurance is just for this sort of thing so no, he like as not won't get back what he owes on it (however, if he's not had it that long it will be the same as paying off early so the total owed will come down because he won't be paying all the interest)

2nd - they'll pay the finance company i expect. they own the car.

Might be a hard lesson in finance and insurance here. He will be on cheap streets for a while which should help him sort his credit rating out.
