Greenlight wouldn't quote me?
Had a email back from greenlight saying i dont meet there required criteria for our specialist schemes.
But they quoted me earlier this year on the same car?
I spent 2 years with greenlight insuring my civic type r, cant understand whats changed?

Greenlight are pants with what they decide to insure.
For instance a couple of years back they would quote me on a 500bhp uk classic but they wouldn't on a completely factory standard STI.
Have a look at their site and see the list of cars they don't insure, it's a joke.
How they get away with referring themselves as a performance car insurer is a joke. If I could be arsed to report them I'm pretty certain the trade descriptions act would come in to play.
As far as I'm concerned there are only two worth while companies:
Keith Micheals - Talk to Gary (moleywrx)
The other is A-plan, thatcham branch as this is the only branch that deal with modified cars.
I've dealt with both and have had exlemplory service on both occasions.

Hi Scooby165,
Having just noticed your post upon the forum relating to having a CTR with us for 2 years, but our being unable to assist this time around - i'd like to look into this for you.
We can cover both UK and imported vehicles and providing the CTR's were recent you would meet the experience criteria.
Without checking your application and in particular the underwriters notes i'm unable to get to the bottom of the reason that we couldnt help.
If you can PM me your actual name, postcode & date of birth i'll look into this for you.
Kind regards
Tony

Hi Daz,
As you have identified, there is an exclusion for some performance models.
Greenlight did initially cover all performance models, but in order to remain competitive and NOT to subsidise poor performing models by having to increase average premiums for all risks we took the view to exclude historically problematic models from our specialist schemes.
We took the view that overtly showing the models we do not cover in an attempt to avoid prospective customers wasting their time filling in an application for a vehicle that we would be unable to assist with was the best way to go.
The alternative approach (adopted by most Insurance providers) being to capture your data for future marketing purposes and either offer an extremely high open market rate or to decline you after taking your details.
We found the models listed upon the list were historically unprofitable to us for 3 or more consecutive years, thus the exclusions.
One point worthy of mention is with this being Scoobynet, we are primarily here to attract and provide cover to performance model Subaru's. We cover both Modified and Standard model Subaru's, we cover UK models and have recently (this year) reinstated cover for imported model Subaru's.
You will note from the list upon our website that there are NO performance Subaru models excluded (including ABI recognised imports - which we are also able to cover).
Hopefully this clarifies the situation.
Kind regards
Tony

Hi Daz,
We'll be able to help providing you're aged over 23, with performance car driving experience and NCB in your own name (which judging by the length of time that you've been on here - you should be ok).
When your project is near completion (and assuming you get 5 mins spare), log onto Greenlight Insurance to apply to see what we can do.
If you PM me around the time that you're making the application i'll make sure that I personally track the progress.
Kind regards
Tony

Scooby165 - with the details you PM'd I managed to source your applications and have PM'd you back in relation to them.
Maydew - Many thanks for the kind comments, much appreciated. We are UK based and have no intention of outsourcing overseas.

Hi Scoobyverysoon,
Sorry we couldnt help..
If you'd like me to look into the applications in further detail i'd be happy to do so, in the same way as I have for Scooby165.
We identified what was leading to our being unable to assist Scooby165 and can now help next time round - which assuming you're ok with PM'ing me your actual name, postcode and date of birth we will hopefully be able to do the same for you.
Gary @ KM is a good guy with a proven pedigree for subaru business so although we couldnt help so far i'm glad to see that you've managed to source the cover you needed from a genuine specialist.
Kind regards
Tony

Tony,
Did i read one of your previous posts correctly that you ARE now insuring scooby's again? - I was insured with you guys (perfectly happily i would add ) but when the beastie came off the road for some more work to be done my policy lapsed n i missed the renewal date by about a month to then be told that my Imported type ra wasn't insurable with yourselves any longer
Was pretty gutted at the time since you guys were about the only ones that would cover me for sensible money with all my mods declared .... been looking for quotes in the last few weeks as it happens but having to be a little "less honest" than i'd like about what i've had done lol!

Hi Scoobymad,
We've been covering performance Subaru models for some 12 years now and back in the day we covered both UK and imported models.
Our scheme underwriters had a hard time sourcing parts for imports, namely due to international motors (Subaru UK) not supporting imports for repair or part supply - which was a problem to our Underwriters and after 3 years of problems led to their withdrawal of offering new business quotations.
We have continued to 'beat the drum' for imported Subaru models, highlighting the improvements in parts availability via non-franchised or specialist suppliers and have recently (within the last few weeks) negotiated the reinstatement of imported Subaru models.
The vehicle's would need to be recognised by the Association of British Insurers (ABI), which will enable us to transact the business with your Insurer and the motor insurers database in electronic format.
To check if your model is ABI listed visit thatcham.org | Research | Insurance Group Rating | ABI Group Rating to use their car search facility.
From your own personal perspective, we should therefore be able to help once again for your Type RA
If you get 5 mins to PM me your latest modification specification, along with your name, postcode & date of birth we will be able to run some comparisons for you. Alternatively, call us on 01277 263030 and refer us to your prior record with us.
Kind regards

Hi Scoobymad - No worries - we'd be happy to cover your vehicle whenever you're ready, i'll await your PM.
Stealthy55 - sorry we couldnt help this time, i'd be happy to check into your application for you to see as to why we were unable to assist.
It's unlikely that this would be down to modifications, as we do cover nitrous, roll cages etc and have some seriously modified high performance cars covered here.
Modifications are covered on a like for like basis (ie damaged/stolen parts replaced with the same after market part) in repairable incidents and taken into account in relation to their impact upon the overall value of the vehicle in event of a total loss.
Agreed value for modified cars is also an option with some of our Underwriters.
So if you do get 5 mins to PM me your actual name and postcode I'll look into this with a view to checking underwriters advice in relation to why they couldnt help as soon as I hear from you.
Kind regards

Hi Hybrid,
I'd be happy to check into your quotation to see what the problem was.
The only thing that I can think it may be would be a postcode exclusion?? as being 29 with 7 years NCB you would definitely qualify.
Can you PM me your actual name, postcode & date of birth - which will then let me look at this (inc. Underwriters notes) then respond individually for you.
We are expanding our Insurer connection to cater for area's/profile's that we currently cannot cater for, as there are good risks that we do with to cover as a broker but are sometimes limited by some of our existing schemes criteria.
Feedback from people like you on here does help - we log all of this information collectively and will use this to improve our service/offerings, which in time will hopefully be good for all concerned.
One example of our scheme enhancement is the re-introduction of our covering IMPORTED Impreza models (both modified & standard) within the summer this year.. which helps, but we would like to do more and feedback does help us target where the improvements are required.
Kind regards

Sadly, wasn't even close @ £782.70, and after being messed around by Quick-fit who where the cheapest on a price comparison site @ about £450, after phoning them it went up to £650, ended up staying with Esure @£600.
Well it was worth a try shopping around, but in the end stayed with the company I've been with for about 5 years.

Hi Rikky,
Many thanks for the feedback and sorry that we couldnt help you on this occasion.
With your providing the quote reference and asking Mr Greenlight to comment specifically as to your application, I have been able to review the application and Underwriters notes.
The factor that influenced the heightened premium for you was 3 claims being presented within the last year upon the vehicle that you propose to us, two of which were shown as outstanding.
Whilst your postcode is a higher rated one, which resulted in a higher base premium to begin with this was not the major factor due to your having owned the vehicle for more than a year without a theft claim in the equation.
Your occupation is also one that we rate in a preferrential way.
I know that we have missed the boat this year, but once the claims have been settled in your favour it's likely that our available Underwriters will be back to reality in terms of premium rating.
Kind regards
Tony
