Stung for spoiler and bb
#1
Just had WRC rear spoiler and TSL bb fitted to my MY01 and premium has gone up by 180 quid (about 15%). Insurance with DirectLine.
Is this about right. What have other peeps been stung by for these types of mods???

Fitted a Wr BB and Morretes to my MY01 which didnt cost anything extra on my Privilege policy but they did try to charge £124 originally (see 'is this expensive thread').
Call them back and ask for a underwriter to speak too.
Zippy.

From what I have heard (and I may be wrong ) Privilege are slightly more performance oriented and mod-friendly than parent/sister company direct line.
Strange really, you can get lower excesses with direct line for the same policy, but you seem to get stung more for mods (than Privilege).

Same problem with Direct Line. They wanted an extra £280 for changing MY97 turbo alloys to 17inch and my spoiler to a STI-4.
Originally quoted me £675 fully comp..
Gone to AXA for £775 fully comp - they will allow upto £2500 worth of mods before my insurance will increase.
Spoiler on car - looking for the alloys..
Bye Bye Direct Line

I agree with Zippy, the telesales woman I spoke to didn't have a clue so put me through to underwriter, all depends who you speak to

If that is the case maybe it was the zorst that changed the premium. Maybe they think it is a big performance mod. I told them I had the exhaust done not "just the backbox" so maybe I should just go for a complete system now to get the most of my money.

Same problem Tesco wanted £223 about a 15% increase on premium for a full exhaust system. Thought I would take a different a approach and said I was just having the BB done still wanted the 15%

Ive got the Rallytech spoiler & when i phoned up Tesco's they said there are two types of spoilers on their policies. These are whale tale type & boot spoiler. Whale type was an extra £96 + boot spoiler 0. Did you get asked this question??

Yep and I said that it was not a "whail tail" as its not a ford. So he said well how big is it and I said that it was about 10ins off the boot so he said he better put it down as a whale tale type.
Did you put the rallytech down as a whale tale or boot spoiler?
