Default change of car

I currently own a 2003 wrx and was considering having it remapped, however feel that I would be better changing it for a 2005 uk sti later in the year, I am 42 years young and have owned this car for 3 years, also have owned a sierra cosworth since I was 24, so experience is not really an issue. When I bought my wrx I considered an sti but didn't like the bugeye which was all I could afford, but insurance on a wrx and sti was very close pricewise, is this still likely to be the case, as I don't want to pay a massive premium as may then be better to go back to remapping the wrx as performance I presume would be very similar, as my example 3 years ago was quoted £500 for wrx and £535 for sti. So less than 10% difference. Have phoned my current insurer and have been told to expect a 30% hike which seems a little extreme, was hoping to get a better deal come renewal time. Any comments welcomed

I was told by my current insurers that whatever the percentage increase of my remap, that would be the percentage increase in my premium, which seems a bit of a rip off as the power is not the only thing the insurance covers. I would like an STI, but I could not get one in the colour that my WRX is in (which I like) or be ablet transfer the mods on there which I like. I'll see what happens when I get my renenwal quote in the next week or so.

Other things to consider:

You know the WRX, would you be happy getting an STI to where you like it.
What is the difference between te premium hike and the cost of the car.
Would you like more power again in te future and would the WRX handle your aspirations or would the STI be a better base car to develop.
You will also get screwed by some companies if ou change whilst on cover as they see it as easy money. You have a degree of bargaining power come renewal time as you can move on relatively painlessly - they'll penalise you if you cancel mid-term

Ouch, I live in a London postcode and at 37 with all mods declared I'm only paying just over £500 with A-plan.
