Default Elephant and STI Hatch

Hi all,

Anyone here have an STI hatch insured with Elephant?

Barely a change in my premium for fitting 18's, fog lights, Prodrive Spring Kit, Rear Parking Sensors, Exhaust etc BUT they are telling me if I fit PPP (ie have a remap) they will NOT insure it.

Anyone have an STI Hatch with PPP insured via Elephant/Admiral etc and what did you declare?

It insures fine if I run a quote as engine chip less than 10% but they said categorically (African Call Centre) that "if the car is remapped, we cannot insure it".

Just as well I called. Don't really want to jump ship to another insurer, previously done that and moved to Keith Michaels on my STI V1 when Elephant would insure absolutely everything on the car except a Fuel Cut Defencer!!!!!!!!!!

Advice welcome.

Brian

Try Saga ! (seriously)
Accept all mods. With max NCD, long history, £329 FC, protected etc, declared everything. Will go up to £379 when at 450/480 BHP in 2 months. Cheapest elsewhere was £550 for current car spec.

Lol - no joke though - what age do you need to be to get a quote?

My hatch is insured with admiral. I had the same thing with them, they refused to cover me if i had ppp fitted. I told them i already had the ppp done so i would have to insure with someone else. 10 mins later i get a call from them saying they will insure it but it will cost an extra £700.

Lol - that's incredible.

After a call to get a price from Gary @ KM I called them to cancel and, after speaking to te UK call centre this time, she checked with the modifications dept and, lo and behold it, it's covered. Cost next to nothing - the change of policy charge is more than the mod cost!

Insured as a >10% Engine Chip and an Exhaust now.

i am going to try KM when their april rates come in and if they are no good i will be renewing with A-plan as i'm sure it's not going to go up much if at all with an extra NCB and no accidents since.

Guys

Try Greenlight also.

Gary did his best to help me with the 330S but Greenlight did a U-Turn and said that the underwriters had agreed to cover it as a one off
Old MY05 STI PPP was £697, new 330S is £717

did an online quote with them again over a grand! A-plan or KM i would imagine this year.
If KM can significantly cut it great but if not i'll stick with A-plan as its not worth the hassle of changing for like £2quid a month or something
