Typical insurers
Hi All
Looking at picking up my next subaru tomorrow (wrx with s/s exhaust), insurers though either don't want to know or expect me to pay thousands.... am i asking to much?
im 31 10 yrs protected no claims, reasonable area etc etc i have had good quotes for myself only to drive.... but i would like the wife to be a named driver, she is 24....
best quote for me was £690 from A-Plan (actually thats the only one i have had for just me so may be able to get for less....)
but for the wife to be on it, 5 yrs ncb, clean licence etc (2 claims - both minor & not her fault & all settled etc) the best quote i have had is admiral @ £1138 which i reckon is abit much as i would be main driver etc i only want her to be on it as 'a just in case she needs to drive it' but if she did then she would be fully covered.
All insurers i have tried today want £1500 + (upto 5K ) just because she is 24 - thought women on insurance policies was supposed to be better
or its simply that they dont trust her being in the under 25 bracket so like it or lump it. So much for insurance to suit you & your own situation.
Looks like admiral will be getting my money for a year then
ps sorry for the rant

You'll find a lot of companies (especially the specialists) are strictly over 25's on Imprezas.
I'd say if you wife was 25 then you'd probably find your rate would be the same as you were getting if she wasn't named on the policy.

I tried Sky Insurance yesterday, they won't quote for Cheshire postcodes, even though I dont actually live in Cheshire it's just the nearest sorting office I'm still looking so if you found a reasonable one, let me know.
