Second car / run around insurance
I'm looking to get a small runaround just to use to drive to the train station each day as im moving house and can no longer walk to the station as its a bit too far, and theres no public transport. Not interested in cycling etc in my work gear. I dont wanna park my scooby there as the spaces are small and it will inevitablely get the bodywork smashed in by idiots and id be paranoid about it being stolen. I also would quite often leave the car overnight in the car park on a friday for example when i go out for drinks after work.
Im looking at a propoer banger like a £500 1.2l corsa or the like. Seen a few on autotrader so i checked out insurance.
What a ****ing joke. Quotes coming in at £700 - £2500 third party. Thats more than my modded scooby fully comp. Im 27 so hardly a new driver, held my license for 10 years, and have 10 years no claims, granted i cant use that on the second policy but you'd at least think they'd take it into consideration. Its just unbelievable that they could think its reasonable to pay that much for such a low value car, and when i'd be doing only about 3k miles per year max. I'm not surprised many people drive without insurance when its so unaffordable.
Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone had been in a similar position and had managed to find any cheap companies, that maybe arent so well known as ive just been looking on confused, compare the mkt etc? But im not prepared to pay £700 for insurance on a £500 banger.

You need to find a company who can 'mirror' your NCB over to the run about, this means that you are given an intro discount based on the fact you hold NCB on another vehicle.
My company should be able to help with this, please phone us on 0208 3645500. Please make it very clear you are a Scoobynet member when you speak to us.
Thanks
