Can anyone tell me what makes a car qualify for classic car insurance?

From memory, of one policy I looked at a couple of years ago

Over 10 years old
Limited mileage (<5k)
Garaged overnight

Can be subject to restrictions on particular cars. I know someone who tried to get classic insurance on an Escort RS Turbo - insurance co said their system wouldn't allow classic insurance for certain types of car, naturally including RSTs......

i had an old 911. Insured it for 150 quid under classic insurance (bl**dy good value if you ask me)

Have just bought a 1993 TVR s3c and got in insured as a classic even though its not 10 years old - oly cost me 280 while my my00 costs nearly a grand - seems very good value really but you must have anoth day to day car to qualify Andy
