Query about insurance for my daughter
General question about insurance for a 17 yr old with provisional licence that i'm hoping one of the insurers or someone else with a bit of knowledge may be able to answer
My 17 yr old daughter is having driving lessons at the moment and i would like her to get a bit more road sense and practice in between lessons - obviously my scoob is not an option here
So if i got her a cheap car for a couple of hundred quid, what are the options when it comes to insurance? Can someone with a provisional licence get insurance in their own right? I don't really want her to be on my insurance in case of any incident compromising my own no claims -also i wouldn't be the one taking her out in the car (too stressful - i've got someone else lined up for that!)
Any advice or suggestions gratefully received

Getting her own insurance on a provisional licence is no problem, and in the long run will save you loads, although you will find the insurance price will be probably more than the price you paid for the car! Also, be careful as a lot of insurers will double their price (if not more) when she passes her test.
With regards to having someone sat with her, that won't be a problem either, providing they are over 21 with three years full uk driving licence, but best to get them named on too, just incase.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Mrs had a car and insured it before passing her test so no issues there.
The problem is afterwards. Try explaining that you haqve more year's no claims than you have held a license. The online computers just say no and the real people on the phone need it explaining a bit!
