Question

As above - If I mod my std disks to none oem / std replacements, and go for a grooved / drilled / larger disk etc. Should I be notifying the insurance company ??

Hi T,
Always best to inform your insurance company of any mods. I up-graded to Godspeed discs/Mintex pads - informed Privilege who then amended my schedule, but no differance to premium. There have been a few threads on this topic and I believe that some insurance companies will charge more for disc/pads mods. Sounds a bit perverse as this mod should make the care safer, but I suspect that the companies think that if you need up-graded brakes then you must be driving too fast!

Done a few mods to my Evo6....so thought i best tell Tesco insurance....maximum amout of mods allowed is 6 ......

1.Full Stainless De-cat. Exhaust (performance enhancing exhaust)

2.HKS Suction Kit. (uprated air filter)

3.Uprated Fuel Pump+Boost controller (uprated fuel injection system)

4.Modified ECU. (modified/chipped management system)

5.Lowered 35mm.

6.????

Note* Itallic denotes what the mod is listed as been on their pre-determined list

Which means that i can only do one more mod until November!

Luckly they said the VTA BOV + Pagid grooved discs didnt class as been *modifications*(the discs are less than £400) ... phew!

All this for the Princely sum of £402.15 for the 8 mths remaining on my policy...... eep!

Thats for 11-20 % increase in power.

For 12-30 % increase in power it would have been £497.15.Thought i best wait til i had it rolling roaded before laying out even more brass!!

Rich (+melted credit card)

Before I had my brakes done at TSL, I checked with Privilege. Told them I was replacing consumable items with uprated, better quality items.

End result was no charge, but I did make a note of who I spoke to incase of any future disputes.
