Default Version 9 STI seats into Classic

PLEASE HELP,

Most of you might be fed up of answering this common question about seat swap from newage (hawkeye) to classic (facelift) but I've been searching and reading people's comments, and the main issue people are having is hight problem.

I would like to ask afew questions to make it easier for me to understand in how we can work round this problem.

My questions are:

1. Besides the height issue what do I have to do to fit the newage sti seats into my classic? (Do I just swap my classic rails straight onto newage seats and bolt in?)

2. Has anyone purchased the buddy club low seat rails and tried to fit them onto newage and then into classic? (For the hight issue)

3. There is an old post about someone removing and shortening the mounts on the rails but it doesn't show the finishing result. Have many people taken this route?

4. Also I've read the rear seats do fit BUT there's something about the rear bench having a slight gap, Is this because the newage seats are larger or is it something to do with the brackets?

It's been along time people have been asking this question and looks like no one is really succeding

Hope everyone who have tried the interior swap can give there experiences and issues they had AND if they managed to resolve the issues.

fronts bolt straight in ,rear bench has a slight gap at the back on top and the side of the base is slightly different shape, leaving a gap at the side.
as for the height issue ,there is a bit of adjustment on the drivers seat but none on the passenger side, you just get used to it

I had wr1 seats in my classic. The rears were easy, I just bent the brackets up on the seat backs making an upside down "V" shape(hammer and there was no gap after that. As for the front..... I done a lot of searching and even tried swapping the seat rails with the classic ones but they are totally different.

I looked at buddy club rails but was unsure if they would fit and at £150 a side, I didn't want to chance it.

In the end I couldn't live with the hight of the seats so sold them on and put the classic seats back in.

I also felt that they didn't support you as good as the classic seats. I think the classic seats give a lot more support and the driving position is a lot better. The Wr1 seats looked a lot better though!

Thanks for your input Dave, I know it's going to be a tricky one but I really would like these to fit or atleast get the fronts to sit lower. When time comes I will try to see what I can do.

As studying the buddy club seat rail picture I can see they are made for aftermarket seats that bolt from the side of the seat so there no good.

I may need more help info on what you exactly did to the rear seats, (which brackets did you mean etc) and did the arm rest work ok?

Thanks.

the rear bench sits higher, the gap is visible through the rear window looking in from outside, primarily because you see exposed yellow foam, it's easily rectified with a dark piece of speaker box carpet or similar stuck or stapled to said foam.

i've read of people modding classic rails and fitting newage seats to them to get them a bit lower... Personally, I'm not tall enough to have any issue just bolting them in as is, and prefer the driving position

There are 2 small bars at either side of the rear back at the top that hooks onto hooks on the car. I bent them upwards which made the back lower with no gap at the back.

I just couldn't get used to the seating position and when I had a passenger there head was nearly hitting the roof.! I like to sit low down in the car and the newage seats were like sitting on it!

Yes I've read people swapping there GC rails onto the GD seats (will need to look into this and see how hard it will be to swap over)

I'm about 6ft 1 so the modification is needed for me,
tbh I actually find the standard seats to be alittle high also lol

Yes, that's the hooks. Although you bend the bars on the seat backs and not them!

I had seen the old threads on cutting and welding but to be honest I don't have anyone that could do this for me and didn't want to start cutting up the seat rails.

In the end it wasn't just the seat position but also the seat comfort it's self.

Sit in a classic seat and then a newage, you'll know what I mean then!
