WRX Gearknob - gaitor looking ugly when changed
Ok, so the WRX gearknob looks ugly as F00k standard. When changing the **** I'm sure you've noticed the gaitor doesn't sit in place as it has nothing to catch onto. The STI one has a bit it attaches round so it doesn't fall down. My question is how did you get around this or do youse just live with it?
Photos would be great too.
Thanks,
Matt.

On my classic, I fitted a MoMo **** and it a) didn't fit well and b) had no means of securing the gaitor. No surprises there with MoMo then..........
Anyway, I finally got fed up with it, used a small lathe to turn up a piece of ally that fit snugly inside the ****, and was Araldited in place, and had the correct thread inside after it fit. It also had a longer "skirt with a lip that the gaitor clipped over.
Took me an hour to make, but cost pennies.
if you take measurements, someone local to you will turn you one. My gearlever was threaded M12 x 1.5.

On my bug wrx I fitted a chrome ball with gears inscribed. The standard gator has a collar and it stays up snug to the ball, the fastening nut actually fits inside the collar perfectly to help keep it up. Shortened the throw nicely too.
