How to get the damn thing to stick, properly?
Tried loads of things but always the morning and the darned thing is hanging back on the dash!!

My double pod is from J-Spec. The bottom wedges into the gap between the a-pillar and the dash (on my MY99). The top is held in with a single screw. It's the same screw that goes into the existing trim for my alarm sensor. It took a bit of practice, but I manage to align the a-pillar pod and screw through it into the existing hole in the trim.

i know what you mean,i ended up drilling a hole in both and fixing with a 5mm bolt,washer and nut.
i try to think a bit safety mind,if i crash i dont fancy bits of the interior flying at me
