Question

Is anyone using a 3-point harness (without a roll cage)? What fixing points do you use?

I’ve been using one for my past few track days, but due to the fixing points I’m using I have to remove the inertial reel seatbelt. I rarely get time to put it back for a week or so after a track day, so it can be a bit of a pain driving around town pinned into the seat (especially for my wife).

Anyone have suggestions for other fixing points I can use SAFELY while keeping the inertial reel in place and operational?

The fixing points I’m using at present are:
* rear seatbelt mounting (even though it’s 20-ish degree off straight)
* driver’s seat left hand side – remove the seatbelt clip, bolt the 3-point fixing to the seat
* right hand door pillar – seatbelt fixing point (just below the inertial reel)

I’m thinking I can use:
* rear seatbelt mounting (or is there an alternative that would let the belt run straight?)
* rear left driver’s seat mounting bolt
* rear right driver’s seat mounting bolt (very dubious about this one!!!)

Hi Colin,
Well I have 3 point Sabelt harnesses fitted in my sti5 as well as the original seat belts and drums.
All I did was removed all the bolts that are fitted to the chasis at each point and replaced the with the eye bolts that came with the harnesses. I have had NO problems with either the harnesses or the seat belts.
