Need some advice please, had to take my cat to the vets for a bit of an emergency, got him all sorted but on the way home the poor old fella had a mishap in the basket and pi55ed on my passengers seat!!

took it to my mate who is a car cleaner/valeter and he got his secret chemicals and tricks out and got rid of the smell for about a week, but OMG it is starting to stink big time :-( anyone know if the covers are removable etc its a 2003 WRX Blobeye

many thanks

It has probably sunk into the sponge, not sure how to help you except suggesting perhaps for ease you look in the for sale for another seat.. dont think they are that expensive. Cat p1ss does stink, but at least it wasnt the female of the species.

As mentioned above, place a wide bowl containg white vinegar in the car overnight, or for 24 hours if you can. It absorbs the smells.

Worth a try.

If the above doesn't work, remove the offending seat and sponge wash it with a good fabric (or even carpet) cleaner, wait a couple of days for it to dry and the smell should have gone.

My sympathy, I've got a diabetic cat who pisses in the car every 6 months! Take the seat out (preferably without the mechanism) using neat carpet cleaner (test a small area first etc) pour a good slug onto the base and work it in, leave it to soak for 1/2hr then hose it down. The only way is to wash it out, and it does take gallons. If you get the cover off it will shrink and you'll have issues getting it back on and most of the stink is in the sponge. (Dry it out quite quickly or it'll stink like damp washing, which may be preferable!) if the mechanism didn't come off make sure that is dried out and regreased thoughly. The solution is to get a plastic cage, with a solid bottom, and put an old towel in the bottom that way all the **** stays in the box. Good luck.
