Post Important McCrae Thread please read

Guys, we are gonna try and organise something in the near future as a memorial event for Colin McRae......

At present there are a few ideas being thrown about, but I think we should as a sub section of Scoobynet, hold off on any event until the main site has organised something, just to run in synch with them.

Could everyone please post all links and ideas onto this thread, along with suggestions and ideas for a memorial event along with suitable dates....obviously I know we are not going to be able to satisfy everyone, and I am aware of the southern members and those on other sites such as ISDC, SIDC and Scoobycity, but believe they are hosting seperate events.

With the success of the Lurgan Park convoy, again all the other sites WILL be informed of our plans when confirmed and WILL be invited to attend..

Cheers

I will also start off with my own ideas so far.....

1. Lap of lough Neagh to include all 6 counties as a " lap of honour", full day convoy allowing everyone from round the province the opportunity to get involved

2. Memorial photoshoot

3. Memorial sticker....

Have also had suggested that the cars involved in the convoy should all have the very plain white " McCrae" style rally drivers name type sticker on both rear side windows.......would be more visible whilst on the move and people would be able to work out what was happening.....also the sticker is very easy to make up and would keep costs down.......

Another suggestion was that the memorial sticker we choose should be sold at a set price with any excess money going to the charity or foundation of choice of the McCrae family........

Default suggestion

1992 was the last time Colin won a rally out right here in ireland, It was the ulster rally and his co driver was derek Ringer in the subaru legacy in the rothmans colours if i recall right. Now Im getting my mate to go through his rally pack for that year and get a list of the stages, just a thought if we wanted to do a drive and take in one of the rally stages central for every one to meet up. Maybe get the isdc boys in on this....

Thumbs up Memorial Run

No probs

As long as the old work horse seem fit enough to travel the miles, sounds like a plan to me!!

Just a friendly suggestion but if you're going to do something to mark the very sad events of the weekend make sure any stickers have the guy's name spelt correctly.

When the main tribute run is arranged you guys will defo be thought of. The great man loved your countries fine smooth roads as he regarded them as the most challenging he had even driving on at speed.

Who woulb be the person on here to liase with?

What about getting some stickers done specific to the norn iron section of scoobynet??.
Brocks Im sure its just a typo but McRae is spelt this way,not having a go but just before you organize stickers or something to be made.

No problem guys, stickers WILL be checked and spelt properly LOL......Spoke to a few of the guys off the site last night @ Seacat and the general consensus was that for the tribute run around the 6 counties, a very simple rally style driver name, in plain white for both rear side windows would have the most visual impact.......It would mean that anyone along the route would see a convoy of cars all with the same sticker in the same place and the visual impact would be huge.....Obviously this sticker design is very simple to make up and as most people would only have it on for the day, cost would be kept down...........

We could also get a smaller sticker done up later with whatever logo the Scoobynet team decide on.....

True, I found a picture of him going sideways round a corner in the "Mad for Road" book but when I scanned it it didn't turn out too well.

The 6 counties run sounds good, but when guys ?

i`ll take one for sure mate.. hell put me down for 2.

who out of interest is making the stickers?

i`d like to get my own made up.

one of the scottish flag and Mcrae beside it and another with the union jack and Burns beside it, rally style, driver co driver only small about 3-4 inches long, for my side windows maybe.

i`m also gay with photoshop so could never even make a template to show what i mean.

gonna try make it on sunday, i`ve a lot of work on in the morning but if i get cleared up i`ll be there for sure
