P1 fog kits, are they still available?
Hi there,
Trying to source a kit of lights/brackets/surrounds, the works.
Has this kit ever been (partially) picked up by the after market industry or will I have to search the globe part by part for a used original set?
They seem to be the nicest OEM look replacement for my standard fogs which I would like to turn in to practical driving lights for driving in unlit mountains/rural areas.
Thanks!

Something like this:
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/131202418062
You can get a fitting kit for them as well I know Scoobyparts do a genuine one.
See product description if you want the full kit.

First off: NOT fogs, the P1's were sold from the off with DRIVING LIGHTS...note: they are actually some use, unlike fogs.
You can still order the lights from a Hella dealer, (I have all the codes), the supports from a Scoob dealer and the foglight covers with 90 mm holes off ebay or an aftermarket seller.

I don't know Hella prices, but here are the dealer codes for their 90mm lights as fitted to the P1:
Halogen H7 main beam, 1KO 008 191-017
HID (Xenon) main beam, 1KO 008 192-007
Make sure you are seated if you ask for the price of the Xenon version.
Both are also available with sidelights, if anyone wants the codes, ask.
Wiring is easy enough, you need a relay, some cable, some connectors and an inline fuse, or buy a relay with one fitted to it. Relay should be for or five terminal on/off.
Ask me if you want instructions.
It's also possible to use the existing foglight SWITCH to choose if the new driving lights come on with main beams, or not at all.
You must NOT, by law, wire driving lights to the foglight wiring...they MUST extinguish when dip beam is selected.

For best VFM get the regular Halogen H7 version, and buy a cheap Xenon kit of Ebay.
I did the same years ago on my regular Hella FF1000's.
(after coming to, and bandaging my head after reading the price of the Xenon FF1000's that Hella also supplied but not sitting down)

Hella uses the same reflector on both the halogen and Xenon type FF1000's, with a bit of luck they do the same for the 90mm lenses.
I do know my GC8 Morette's use a Hella 90mm lens (Morette shipped it to me, as the original Oscar?? lenses aren't available anymore) works perfectly with a Xenon set, with no problems with the beam or scattering light at all.

The reflectors on both 1000FF types may be the same, but the bulb-holders aren't. The genuine HID ones use a genuine D2S Hella bulb (Burner), which gives them a distinctive rectangular protruberance at the rear. This is used to fix the lamps on the brackets on a Scoob, making them a four-point fixing and VERY solid.
The fact that they use a single filament bulb in the halogen ones makes conversion to HID simple and about 95% effective, making the halogen ones, with conversion kit, a steal at the price.

How is the quality and detail on these, have you tried them yourself?
Always a little worried that a copy is a few mm's off and gives me a serious fitting issue....
