Key advice needed
I have a wrx300 blob 2005 ,, car only came with one one button key
I have managed to find a 2nd hand one button key with innards
Can i program this key to my car using the keypad as per earlier cars ?
And does anyone know if these blanks http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Rem...item4ac397926b
Will be ok to replace the one thats already in the key so i can get it cut for my car or do i have to buy a key from subaru ? Ones in link are slightly different shape at the top to existing but look like it will go ,,, how much are keys from subaru if anyone knows ( guessing subaru sell the blade and rear part of key as one ? Without electronics ? )

You should be able to program the key using the keypad but have to do all at the same time,
Timpsons can do a new key with immobiliser chip but no central locking. The original blade is moulded into the key plastic so has to be cut out and a new one glued in if you want to do it that way.
You can also get a one button fob and program that aswel iirc cheers Marc

Looking at it i am thinking the machined hole in the middle at the top might line up to the one in the blade on the ebay link and hence be a cheap way forward
Ill check on a price for a key from subaru before i take a gamble but if they want silly money i think its worth a go
Interesting info re the single button fob ! , so i can get one of those blue fobs and a timpsons key if all else fails ?

The thing is is that the key is bonded into one side and the other side screws into the key hence holding the two halves together.
You could bond a new blade and still screw it in.
The single button key is the innards to the previous two button key and fob put into one place for convenience.
Subaru wanted around £300 when I asked about a new key.

aaah I see , I just tested that and youre spot on , without the blade clipped in to the bottom half the screw cannot tighten as there is nothing for it to hold
so as you say it would need the new blade to be glued or bonded in to work
yup Subaru quoted me about £220 for the whole key but I kinda hoped having sourced the electronic innards that would be the expensive part out the way and was thinking a new basic blank would be just the back part of the key with the blade that holds the battery
I think ill order one of these ebay blanks and see if theres a way to make it work as would rather spend that kinda money on speakers or an intercooler etc
This is the blade ill get ,, hopefully the threaded hole is in the right place to make it work
thanks for your input , very helpful
