Default Replacing JDM battery with UKDM

https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...l#post12016344

I realised the Members' Gallery might not be the best place to ask for battery advice.

The car left us stranded yesterday so it wasn't the fob battery. Thanks to a very helpful chap with some jump leads we managed to get it going again. He had a look at the battery: if it was healthy he said he'd expect to see a green disc through the small window on the top. All he could see was black so today I'm going to try to find a replacement.

This is the one that's in (picture attached):

I can't search by reg so I've searched for a UK Impreza WRX instead. This came up:
https://www.halfords.com/motoring/bu...2v-car-battery

The dimensions are the same but the startup power is lower. I don't know anything about electricity. Would this be a suitable replacement?

Thanks.

It probably needs a session on a battery conditioner but as you don't know it history a replacement may be prudent.

The Yuasa 5000 series HSB005 is a good battery, used by a number of people on here including myself.

and cheaper elsewhere

Thanks, Don.

That's the same battery I linked to above. As I said, the dimensions are the same (so I know the UK battery will fit in the tray) but I've been reading about different size terminals on some JDM batteries. That's what I'm worried about.

I think you will find the only problem is when you look at the smaller batteries fitted to the likes of the spec C

UK/European MY05 WRX wagons come with a 55D23L battery, JDM a 60 or 75D23L battery
The +ve terminal post is the same for both 81608AC020 or superceded by 81608GA110 so same size terminals.

Thank you.

Replacement ordered for fitting later today. Fingers crossed.

Thread revival after I needed a new battery and was looking for some recommendations.

managed to pick up the YBX5005 battery up for £65.98 and used a voucher code to get another £5 off

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yuasa-YBX...53.m1438.l2649

I do use a battery C-Tech conditioner on my car which only seldom gets out for a run and my old Yuasa 3005 model was unable to hold a charge.

Hopefully this will do the job
