Are they better than standard car phone kits???

How do make/recieve calls??

What are they like to fit??

What happens if my mates are in the car with Bluetooth phones???

I fitted a Parot Blutooth car kit about 6 months ago and it didn't work very well as the sound quality at the other end (i.e. who ever I called) was dreadfull. I don't know if this was me the car the kit or the mobile but as it was £200 and I couldnt getting working after fitting dedicated earths and new microphones I sent it back (bought it on a whim and was quite glad to just have the cash back after all the hassel). Not encouraging I know but I think was probably the Kits fault so try a different maker.

regarding use there is a small button which is the only visable sign of the kit this is used to answer/end a call also you can make a call by pressing the button and using your phones voice activation. don't know about conflicts with bluetooth but shouldn't be too much of a problem as the phone has to have its bluetooth activated to interact with the kit

hopes this helps and don't let me put you off the whole bluetooth Idea because I am sure somebody must have got it to work. I'd be interested to here how you get on so keep us posted

Thumbs down

Just heard something interesting from a mate who's fairly high up in the IT industry regarding car kits;

new legislation about to come in regarding use of mobiles in car ~ fixed car kits ok,
bluetooth car kits not ok

apparently there is specific legislation going through about the bluetooth stuff at the moment.

does anyone know any more about this?

Interesting!!! I was looking into a car/bluetooth phone setup because I use the phone quite a bit in the car and thought it's only a matter of time before I'm going to get myself into trouble with the law!!!!!

A local carphone fitter has done 3-4 bluetooth car kits and taken them all out again because of interference. Worst offender - phone masts!!!

Thank you people!!!! Think I will stick with an old fashioned car kit then! I might be better of letting the Bluetooth kits evolve a bit!!!

I use a bluetooth headset while in the car, and have had no problem with interference. Not quite the same I know, but the principal is.

Thumbs up

Here you go mate It's all in here although it's a white paper and things may have changed. It seems HMG may not have even considered Bluetooth as a viable alternative to fixed car kits.

Cheers
Kav
