Unplugged Lead
I picked up my MY02 impreza today and inside the boot at the back underneath the window is an unplugged lead. I haven't plugged the connectors back together yet. Does anyone know what it is for?
Heated rear window?
Thanks
Darren

Any number of things it could be. Impreza bodyshells tend to get fitted with complete looms that enable to connection of the full range of electrical options, and it then follows that any options not fitted to that particular car will result in "spare" plugs. If you look under the bonnet you'll see that it carries unused connections on the bulkhead for left-hand drive pedal box installation and so-on.
Does the boot light come on when you open the lid? If not, I'd hazard a guess that this would be the likeliest candidate. Beyond that, you may have found the rear wash/wipe connections, or interior high level brake light connections, cabling left over for a CD changer, or indeed something else.
If in doubt pop back to the dealer and ask them!

Unlikely to be that if, as Pittsey suggests, the loom is up underneath the rear windscreen. The connections for the waterspray would be down on the floor of the boot.

That would be my primary suspicion. As mentioned above, there are a couple of things wired in round that neck of the woods, but the wash/wipe connections should be on all looms, JDM or not.
