Question Philips Blue Vision H4 or Philips Power 2 Night ?

Need a replacement bulb for classic MY00.
Done a search on here and I think the best ones are Philips Blue Vision H4
for sensible money. Is this correct and where from?
If not which ones to gor for and where from?

Ray

just read about these Philips Power 2 Night. has anybody tried them?

Used the philips blue vision and recently swapped them for Osram Silver Stars which I think are brighter.

The GE Mega lights are highly rated too but not tried them.

I've tried GE Megalights and PVP, and rate them in that order, but not much in it.

Neither are blue effect, just 60% and 50% brighter.

I actually use the Osram +50% bulbs and IMO they are really good, far better than standard and not quite as cheesy as blue bulbs

The blue vision ones aren't very blue - you can notice it reflecting off road signs and there is a slight blue tinge when on dip but not that you'll notice it when driving - the 16 year old slappers on the roadside will though...

If it helps your decision here are the facts:

The BlueVision range was a range of product created by Philips in 1996 to try and give the discharge blue tinge effect while staying road legal. Philips being Philips did not just want to go the fashion route and there had to be some safety element or improvement attached. Therefore they decided to us the Premium range (+30%) as the basis for the product. To the outside of the Premium lamps was added a Blue Dichroic coating to change the colour temperature, however this is also a blue filter. This means that the performance increase is reduced from the clear bulb +30% to about +5%. It does also depends on which bulb (H1,H3,H4, H7) you are talking about.

The Vision plus range +50% was derived purely as a safety related improvement for your headlamp system utilising higher luminance (described elsewhere on the forum) to get the improvement without extra heat. It is this heat and current draw that makes Rally lamps unwise to fit a road going vehicle. The problem here therefore is you had to choose between style (BV) and performance (VP). The best compromise was to offer GT150 which is a VP lamp and gives a little blue effect as well due to it Blue glare shield.

I hope this helps and the VP products in Philips are called Silver Stars in the Osram Range, MegaPlus in the GE range.

Let me know if you need further help

i use phillips rallye bulbs for my fog lights and they are amazingly bright, but due to the fact that it has a true 100 watt draw & output, i only use them when especially needed. i haven't had any issues for a year now and the light output is near HID or brighter, depending on car.
