Default Driving light switch?

Just got a set of Prodrive driving lights for my scoob. (v6). On taking off the blanking covers i found the wiring for them is already there. Is there wiring for the switch on the dash?

What you've found is almost certainly the wiring for the OE FOG lights fitted to most Scoobs.

It allows them to be switched on when you have dipped beam, IIRC, and switched off again manually.

Unfortunately, that's illegal for driving lights, which MUST extinguish when you select dip beam.

Your kit should have the relay needed to do this: on with main beam, off with dip.

If the wiring is there behind the OE foglight switch cover, you could get a switch from GradeA, and use it to wire up so that your new driving lights work as above, but can also be switched out, eg: for around town, flashing people during the day etc.

Unfortunately, no relay came with the lights, or switch! Bought them dirt cheap on e-bay a while back. Ive got a switch for them already but no relay. Ive read somewhere that behind the i/c spray switch is the connector for the d/lamps???

Go to Halfrauds, Demon Tweeks, or any decent carshop, even a car electrics place. Buy a standard 12V on/off relay, 4 terminal, with a built in fuse if possible, or buy an inline fuse to go with it if not.

Connect as follows:
Relay terminal/ connect to

85/ FROM headlight mainbeam
86/ TO a suitable earth, or batt -ve
30/ FROM batt +ve via fuse if necessary
87/ TO lights,

then earth lights back to battery.

All done: set 'em up and enjoy.
