Question De-Tangoing a MY05

Hi,

I have seen pictures of some Scoobs that appear to have clear indicator bulbs front and rear, where do you get these from please ??

Also is it easy to remove that orange wedge from the headlamps ??

Mark.

The bulbs you're on about a usually Silvatec W21W (part no BU582S T20 Wedge)front and back.
These look silver but flash orange and cost about £15 a pair.

The orange wedge is a pain to remove and the entire headlamp unit has to baked in aan oven to soft the sealant in order to get them removed.

Got the dealers, Stan Palmer, to do mine for a nominal fee before I bought mine, otherwise you could try yourself

Cheers for the info, have just seen another post of yours about getting the bulbs from revolution

Sounds scary about sticking the lights in the oven, but will give it a go !!

About 2 months ago someone posted that they took the light unit out intending to do the oven thing but chickened out at the last minute.

But then he found he could take the indicator bulb out and use a pair of thin pliers to reach in and break the orange bit up and remove it thro the bulb hole. Slightly less risky!!

That was me no problem at all, use some long nose pliers, and some wire cutters, breaks up a treat

I tried this method, on a bugeye, and it was a nightmare!

The orange plastic cover is made of soft plastic, and doesn't crack into pieces as you would expect, and all you end up doing is scratching all the reflective coating off the headlights.

Putting them in the oven is one of the easiest mods you can do. The hardest part is getting the lights on and off the car!

You aren't cooking the lights, all you are doing is warming the sealant to soften it and then pulling the two pieces apart. Putting them on a low heat for 20 mins does the job.

Or you could just buy a Japanese-spec car which comes de-tangoed from the factory
