Default Hard wirig devices.

I've currently got an Origin B2 & and phone kit in the car that are powered from a 4 way *** lighter power adapter.

All the wires are bit untidy and trying the hide the adapter behind the fascia was a bit of nightmare, so I'd like to hardwire these devices in.

Is the *** lighter power source the best place to do this?

How easy is it to do and will there be any problems related to draw?

Ciggy lighter is only on when the ignition is on. If you want all your devices to be like this then it's the best place to connect.

If some of the devices want to stay on all the time, some kind of charger perhaps, then you need a permanent 12V. Nearest one is at the back of the radio or at the hazard light switch.

The ciggy lighter supply will be protected by a fuse. It'll be a reasonable sized fuse as the ciggy lighter will take a fair current to heat up red hot. If all your devices are small electronic, like the Origin, then they'll take a tiny current in comparison and you could probably run 10 or 20 of them together without taking as much current as the ciggy lighter would.

But it doesn't matter anyway, if you take too much then the fuse that's in there now will blow and save you doing any damage. Provided you don't do anything daft like putting a much higher rating fuse in because it keep blowing then you'll be fine.
