Thumbs up Shift lamp

Bought myself a Pivot super shift lamp and it works a treat.

Fitting was really really easy.
Plugged it into the *** lighter pressed a button on the control box, rev'd the car to 6000rpm and pressed the button on the control box. fixed the lamp and job done.

That right no wiring to ECU at all. it some how knows the engines at 6000rpm and the lamp comes on. BLACK MAGIC

Agreed. Better to be watching where you are heading than what you are revin. Subtle lamp is the way to go.

Here's mine running off SECS monitor :-

Where did you get your shift light from, and does it come with a kit to fit it in that position or is that a bit of diy?

Dan.
The shift light came with the SECS monitor from http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/ as an add on module. The unit has several additional add on modules that can be purchased with the unit or afterwards :-

1. Oil Pressure Sensor Kit
2. Oil Temperature Sensor Kit
3. Oil Pressure / Temperature Sensor kit
4. EGT Sensor kit
5. Fuel Pressure Sensor
6. Shift warning light
7. Replacement front panel
8. Software upgrade

It's a one piece unit housing the light & comes with two wires that you run to the connector block in the main display unit. The base is curved so you can mount it like I have with double sided tape (supplied).

Ahh i take it, it's the proper Defi one then.
I didn't fancy paying £40 for a light bulb!
I know all about the extra sensors, Just installed the oil temp and pressure ones and found my SECS was faulty. All replaced under warrenty by PSI3 though.
Looks like i had the 20th one they ever made, getting a bit old now.

I think i will make something up myself as a shift light.

cheers

I have a couple of questions:

1) if you wanted to hard wire the pivot in you could do it to the power supply to the cig lighter correct or is there a better place to do it that myself an electronical wiring idiot can find and do without screwing up.

2) If it works by voltage, what happens if you plug your cell phone or radar detector into the cig lighter and are using a splitter or hard wire, doesnt that change the voltage across the applicance and then change the rpm that the light comes on at?

Bumper for anyone knowing whether accessories like radar detector and cell phone charger being plugged into the lighter affect a product like the PIVOT Light's ability to accurately detect rpm without having to readjust the dial every time you turn something on or off.

If it works like the G-Tech, then it actually senses the 'noise' on the +12V feed from the ignition circuit, not the plain 12V voltage.
