Default idle control valve

Hi folks
Wondering if any of you can help shed some light on something.
I have a mate who has a MY95 WRX, but its just had an engine transplant, 2002 block and 98 intake manifold.
He finally got it to run last week after XX months, but it aint going right
The ICV on the 98 manifold is 6 wire where as its only a 3 wire on the 95 (i have a 95 which we were comparing against)
resistance between pin 2-1 and 2-3 on my 95 is about 10 ohms, but the 98 pin 2-1 and 2-3, and 5-4 and 5-6 is about 50 ohms.
The 95 wiring loom is still in place in the car.

Ive studied the wiring diagrams for both, and on the 3 pin one, 2 is power and 1 and 3 go to the ECU
and for the 6 pin, 2 and 5 are power and 1, 3, 4, and 6 go to the ECU
Does anyone know what kind of signal is going thru 1 & 3, and 1, 3, 4 & 6?
And if there is any way of adapting the 98 to the 95?
Or will it mean getting a 98 loom and ECU??

Regards gordy
