Any of you people out there got underbody neon lights fitted, ala those hot rods in the movie "Fast & Furious"? Seems to be quite a popular mod over in the States, especially when synchronised with music, but IMHO, a bit over the top. Would this be legal under British traffic laws? When properly fitted, the lights are not directly visible to other road users, only the glow is.

I think that they are only illegal if you can see the bulbs.... i wouldn't think blue ones would go down too well either

Cool

PC - What am I missing from your SIDC meets? The disco-mobile?
From the response, there goes my idea of making a fortune importing the lights for sale to my accessory crazed fellow motorists. Just thought this may be a better idea than to have 80 bhp mini-cars going around with faked HID headlights (i.e. blue coated bulbs), air scoops and lumpy back boxes.

Had these on my Mont er first car 8 years ago when they were all the rage. Constantly pulled over by plod so looked into the law to find out exactly. Law was that you can show any colour to the front as long as its not red, any colour to the sides and only red to the rear. That was eight years ago.

WRX, I think the law refers to a direct light source, hence the rear number plate light bulb must be fully shielded when seen from behind, but obviously the light must be visible on the plate itself. Just saw an ad in a Taiwanese car magazine for day glow florescent paints and stickers on a car, which can appear quite different to its daytime colours. So if caught on a speed camera at night, can always argue that "officer, I think there has been a mistake. My car is white, but the photo clearly shows a green (or yellow or blue) car.
