Default Dreaded Check Engine is now Flashing.

I had MY 97 engine rebuilt a year or so ago, and i thought the bloke made a good job of it, until yesterday, when hoovering the floor well, i noticed a wire unplugged under the steering wheel.

Its a single black wire, with red marking. Its by a yellow block which has nothing plugged in to it.

When i connect it, the Check Engine light on the dashboard lights up.

Has anyone got any ideas, and what i shold do next to sort it ?.

Thanks and regards

Doug

Have a look for ecu fault codes, use the above link to help you understand which plugs you have connected or not.

Sounds like the diagnostics connector to me. Are there green connectors near by also? if so you should leave it unplugged unless you are trying to read codes from the ecu...
