Default SUBARU MAIN STEALERS!! advice needed please

hello chaps, this is my 2nd post here on what is becoming one of the worst ownership experiences that i have ever had!! I lost my keys 2 days ago, so i thought after reading on here about how cheap subaru are for keys (everyone mentioned 33 pounds) ....well a Key from my local subaru dealer...... £52 plus £20 for coding...... £72 i could have bought a new lockset and ignition barrel or that, Is there any way of coding the keys yourself or does it have to be plugged up 2 a computer?

cheers

The keys will need to be "programmed" so that they will work

I think this is a main dealer only option

One of my keys lost it's coding and the car was only a few months old. Took it to the dealer and they re-coded it for free - you just take both keys with you as the get programmed to a new freq at the same time. Not sure what would happen if it's out of warranty, but £20 for coding once you have forked out for the keys is a bit out of order!

I spoke with my local garage (non-subaru) who put me in touch with someone who supplied, cut and coded a key for me for £20 cash . Ask about if time allows.

House insurance may cover this sort of thing...
