Hi burns, I do actual need both units, but I want new ones (even new ones have only lasted 3 years before they have started going black with corrosion) the reason I was asking for the part / serial number is I may be able to get them trade price. If I get any futher I'll PM you with the price.
Mike.

Just been out to look at mine. The main/dip units, (the outers) are Cibie 5 3/4" units, and carry the following markings on the glass "125", "96" and "497".

Have a look HERE: CIBIE LIGHTING

AFAIK, the light unit you want is an H130, but I'm sure a phone call to them will clarify.

Talk about a blast from the past, I may still have the valeo boxes from the replacement lamps I got in my shed, I'll have a look tonight if i have time, I also have some valeo part numbers scribled on a note on my desk (shows how often I clear my desk) which still seam current on the valeo web site, numbers are as follows :-
Mainbeam (inner) without side light (H1) valeo no 082369 (EAN 3276420823698)
Mainbeam (inner) without side light (H1, flat lens) valeo no 082378 (EAN 3276420823780)
headlight (outer) with side light (H4) valeo number 082371 (EAN3276420823711)
headlight (outer) without side light (H4) valeo number 082373 (EAN3276420823735)
I must stress that I cannot remember which of the above options I went for, like I said if I have time I'll check the boxes for part numbers,
hope this helps,
WR-MIKE.

Hi WR-MIKE,

Thanks for the info, do you happen to know where you can buy them from? I am in Germany and am having a bitch of a job sourcing replacements as they are a wierd size. I can get 5 3/4 Cibies hand over fist but the smaller inner ones I currently have are like rocking horse poo. Also you say that the inners are H1 and the outers are H4. Did you replace both lamps thenas my inner is H2 and my outer is H1.

Also what is Valeo ??

Cheers
Steve

Hmmm Are you sure that is the correct EAN number? that is coming up as a 146mm H1 main headlamp, but the main inner headlamp on mine is 110mm and H2

Or does the 146mm lamp fit in the Morette housing aswell?

Wurzel: I seriously doubt you will get any. Cibie apparently stopped making them about 18 months to two years ago. They are now like hen's teeth, although they occasionally come up on e-bay, usually singly.

Possibly true Alcazar but!!!

The numbers Mike gave are available to buy in Germany and in northallerton however the lamps in my Morettes differ from Kips description, my inner lamp is only 110mm wide and convex not flat, the numbers mike gave are for a 146mm lamp so this must be wrong unless the 146mm lamp is a replacement for the 110mm lamp I currently have which I find hard to believe as 36mm is a hell of a difference in size.

as i said if i get a chance I'll have a look for the box tonight to confirm the numbers, do any of the numbers on your unit match with the numbers originaly posted, is your car a uk car or a jap model as there may be a difference in unit (but I doubt it) although i do remember having to swap the electric hight adjusters from the original head lights to the morrettes (also are they original morrettes)
also i may even have the recipt for the replacements, i'll look for that as well

Indeed the numbers do match, my inners have 0490047 embossed on the glass aswell as 10de 40 and 8001 HR e2 and e6 etc so there is no doubt they are the same inners.

My outers have 0488045 embossed on them and are flat.

Its true, they are impossible to get.

I ended up buying a set of Escort Cosworth morettes, just for the inners once. Used them on mine, and sold the casing on. didn't lose out on the deal becuas eI got a bargain.

Also done the same with some Mondeo ones, but sold the inners and units to a Scoobynetter who bought them just or the inners.

What I'm trying to get at, is you won't get them new. Look for morettes from cars of the same era, mostly fords, and you might get some inners.

Alternatively, there is a guy on the US ebay, that makes round headlamps, with projectors inside. I did ask him if he could make 5 inch one's and he said yes.

I have tried searching for others but either I am doing something wrong, the sellers are not listing them with the same descriptions as I am searching for or there are none out there for sale because I can't find any out there, and searching for cibie 5" lamps always returns 5 3/4" lamps, of which there is an abundance.

I just ebay search "morettes" every now and then. Apparently the Morette factory has re-opened, hence a flood of some "Brand New" kits for various cars. But it appears the most common use for this Cibie unit is for Morettes anyway.

Yeah there is a company on there selling brand new ones for escorts shipped straight from Morette. there is a couple of sets listed for a cossy escort and a VW summat. Mailed the selelr to see if they have the required lamp in them.

Best of luck, let us know if you get any and where.

Or you could buy a stock and make a killing on e-bay, and on here.........

Mine will eventually be replaced with OE crystal lights with GENUINE BMW/Merc etc HID BiXenon projectors.

It will get done once I have enough dosh to fund the projectors, I already have the lights.

The conversions beats even Morettes with Cibies and uprated bulbs.

Hi

I realise this is an old thread! I've got a complete set (4 Cibie) both inner and outer (2x 082369 and 2x 082371) brand new in the box. I originally bought them for my Opel Manta but the fitments were different (have lips rather than lugs), so I didn't bother using them. I didn't realise they also fitted a Scooby.

Hi thanks for letting me know but I'm going to be selling my car soon (absolutely gutted as I,ve had it for ten & a half years) so I don't think that I'll be needing them :-)
