wiring circuit for boost solenoid needed

I have a problem that my boost solenoid isn't actuating. I have tested that there is voltage going to it and there is but when I attach the plug or put voltage from the plug to the solenoid the voltage drops as if its short circuit. (if I put power direct from the battery the solenoid acuates ok).
I have tried another boost solenoid and it does the same thing so it looks like there is a problem somewhere before the solenoid.
Does any one know if the power for the solenoid comes straight from the ECU (if so which connector) or it comes via a relay (if so which one and where).
This problem is really annoying me, I have changed plugs, coil pack, MAF, boost solenoid and now it looks like there is an electrical fault somewhere
If not is there any way to bypass the boost solenoid with an aftermarket thing?
