Help! Xenon HID question. 2008 Forester. Stock, not upgrade.
Hello,
I really really want to buy a 2008 Forester XT. I think the US versions are different (trim levels), but the Canadian website offers only one trim level for XT. It's kind of sport and limited combined (leather + STI grille, etc).
Anyways, I'm confused about the "contoured multi-reflector Xenon HID".
Seeing the pictures of the front end, the headlights are different than the other '08 Subaru's.
After researching aplenty, I found that I read the specs wrong. Forester XT has "controured multi-reflector Xenon" and not "projector beam Xenon".
What is the difference in light output and color? Basically, I want nice headlights, especially if I am shelling out $38,000 CDN for a fully loaded turbo-charged Subaru.
I know what the "projector" ones look like in action, I've seen them on the road lots on Subaru's, BMW's, Lexus', etc. Obviously some are better/bluer/whiter, but...
Anyone have a night time picture of the "projector" HID Xenon running on a Forester XT?
Is projector better/brighter? Is the "projector" Xenon white/yellow?
To me, I would think the projector is better, or cooler? I dunno! Just wondering why the lower end models have newer or different lights.
I do a lot of night time back roads driving too, so I want really good lights.
Obviously the reflectors look like old style reflectors, and the projector ones look like this.

Thanks!
Edit: I also noticed the 2009 Forester XT has "reflector" type as well. Whilst all other Subaru models have "projector". Anyone know why?

The lens/reflector has (should have) NO effect whatsoever on the colour, brightness or whiteness of the light the Xenon lamp emits.
Reflector technology is cheaper to make and fit than projector technology.
There's your reason in a nutshell: Subaru are ripping Canadians off as well as us Brits

Sounds good, thanks for the reply. Won't be able to get in there for a test drive for a couple of weeks.
If anyone has a photo of their Forester XT's stock HID's I'd really appreciate it. If not, thanks anyways!
*hopes to get away from evil Saturn and join the Subaru club very soon*
