Default What Wire, Does What?

Hi Guys,

I've fitted a centre dash to my classic that comes with a digital clock with dimmer control.

When I bought the centre console it didn't have a wiring plug with it. Finally after about a month of searching I've found the wiring plug.

Only thing, now I've no idea what wire goes where.

The above is the plug that comes out of the clock, and the below is what plugs into it.

But what do I splice the wires into to make it work?

I think its got to be Permant Live, earth, ignition and a dimmer wire. But I've no idea which goes where.

Also I notice that the second plug only has four wires coming out, where as the first plug has 5 wires, does this matter.

I've got MY00 centre dash all open. Can take a look tommorrow if you like.

But i don't have centre clock. But could easily find the connections you need, apart from the dimmer, whatever that means.

What MY do you have?

I've got a 96 (Prefacelift).

The dimmer, is that attaches to the ligths so when the lights are turned on it becomes brighter, or at least thats was I beleive from reading other threads.

Cheers for you help buddy.

Yeah I just remembered there is a bright switch that can be used as the dimmer. So what year are the parts from?

The centre console is from a 99 and the wiring plug is from a 98 as far as I recall.

blue/red is 12v permanent
black is ground

white/yellow is (probably) ignition
green/red is (probably) light supply.

if the last 2 are wrong just swap them round. you wont break anything if they are.
