Default Problem with JDM instruments

A problem has come up with my MY05 JDM STi. I ran it OK before washing, and when I went to go for a run after, this is what I saw:

1. The start-up sweep ran very slowly
2. The Rev indicator light flashed
3. When on the road, the revs and speed were over-reading - around 30 mph was an indicated 140!
4. The red lights were flickering slightly, particularly the mileage reading
5. There is a feint whistle in the background (similar to, but nowhere near as loud as the Defi warning whistle) which stops a few seconds after taking out the ignition key.
6. The Defis appear to be working OK.

This is a really weird one. Could I have done something when cleaning the interior?

On my MY03 STi I had the speedo dial not work and turned out to be an overheated speedo converter.

But your problem seems to be something different and I have not experienced that with my dials.

Sorry I can't be of further help.

Thanks anyway, it's very strange indeed!
